About this property

Welcome to Barksdale Inn

Located within Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, Barksdale Inn offers a practical lodging option primarily serving military personnel and their families. The hotel features rooms that are clean and reasonably spacious, with some areas recently remodeled to update paint, furniture, and bedding. Guest feedback suggests the rooms provide comfort and functionality, with amenities such as cable TV and in-room seating areas.

The property presents an older style typical of military billeting, with certain areas showing signs of age and requiring maintenance. While some travelers have noted challenges related to navigating the base and parking, as well as occasional limitations when booking guaranteed rooms during high-demand periods, the front desk staff receive praise for their friendly and accommodating service.

Barksdale Inn’s location within the base allows guests to explore historic aircraft displays and observe air traffic operations nearby. Accessibility can be an issue for those with mobility concerns, given some rooms being on upper floors and steps involved in reaching them. However, specific requests, such as ground-floor rooms, are sometimes met when possible.

While it may not offer the glamour of commercial hotels, it provides a secure and functional environment, with most guests appreciating the quiet atmosphere and straightforward accommodations during their stays.

I had a flight at 0600 the day I checked out and realized on the way to the airport that I had left my headphones in my room. I called, they immediately retrieved them and shipped them to my home. A+ customer service. Pleasant stay all-around

You cannot ask for a more secure environment to spend the night. The rooms are clean, quiet and good size. The front desk is friendly and helpful. The only issue we have encountered is that MWR travelers can be bumped from a guaranteed room if DOD training personnel are being made reservations. This has happened twice. An alternate room was offered but my husband is handicapped and the room was not suitable. We have been pleased with the majority of our stays. The rooms at the main lodge have been remodeled with paint, furniture and bedding. Our room really looked nice.

Better than most AF billeting. It is a bit aged and needs updating but perfectly acceptable.

Barksdale Air Force Base was a planned stop on my return route to Florida from a visit to New Mexico. The bass is a historic gem in the Air Force and there is a lot of pride evident in all of the men and women who serve at Barksdale. No place is this more evident then at the Barksdale Inn. I phoned ahead to let them know I would be arriving later then expected and ask them if possible, to give me a first floor room because I was dealing with a knee injury. When I arrived at the front desk, they were polite, friendly, and very accommodating to my special needs. The room was splendid and very comfortable. The bathroom was large and everything was recently remodeled and in excellent condition. The bed felt great and there was no end to the selection of channels on the cable TV in the room. The closet space was more than enough and there was a very nice desk and very comfortable chairs for working and for relaxing. The next day I checked out very easily and spend some time walking around the beautiful base. They have so many historic old aircraft on display. But it was even better to see several heavy aircraft performing maneuvers in the skies around the base and taking off and landing from the runway. I really enjoyed my stay at Barksdale Air Force Base.

Overall a decent place for the night. They put us up in TLF since we have kids with us. A few things wrong with it. 1. I did not wear makeup last night and there was a ton on my pillowcase. Wondering if they cleaned the linen. 2. Also, place is pretty old. Condition of the place has seen better days. Nothing new. 3. Guest bed ( pull out couch) seems uncomfortable for my toddler. I would give it a 3/5 but despite all of this because I would consider coming back. Only because it’s a military hotel. We feel safer on base when traveling. Hopefully this review prepares you for what to expect.

After a long day of travel, navigating to the front entrance was tough (one-way streets, and rush hour with everyone leaving base), but check-in was quick and efficient. Getting back and around to the designated parking lot was a tad onerous, and the 3-5 steps to the first floor with a hefty amount of luggage was tough. Rooms aren't glamorous, but were certainly what we were expecting. Large room with small in-room fridge, seating area, and *large* (although "odd") bathroom. Clean room - but we couldn't find the ice machine. BEST part was seeing our tax-dollars at work as a B-52 cruised overhead and landed. All in all a reasonable hotel: "job well done!"

We stayed at DV suite. It was wonderful. Yes, it's old but beautifully decorated and lots of space. The bed was very comfortable. Only thing is that the bathroom space was so small. The tub area and the toilet area. I had to get out of the bathroom to get dressed. Great experience!

We just traveled across the eastern part of the country and stayed at multiple bases. This one was a mixed bag. Google Maps directions were totally a mess sending us to the wrong gates and then to Dominos Pizza. Guidance from staff was a bit lacking on this. Getting to the base, the gate, the lodging, the parking, and then the room was way more confusing than any other base we’ve stayed on. It wasn’t straightforward, but the staff seemed not to realize that. The room was clean, but had an overwhelming scent that was likely covering something else. The handles on the vanity were all rusted and there was a bit of mildew(?) on the legs of the nightstand. The grounds are lovely though with beautiful mature trees and adorable houses surrounding the lodging. They also have a huge static display of various aircraft’s that is worth walking through. After a long day of driving the confusion of everything was stressful, but once in the room it was all good, aside from the strong air freshener.
